Back in December 2023 we (The Big Happiness Experiment CiC) were approached by Walsall Council -Walsall Men’s Wellbeing Fund about creating a project that would support the mental health of men in the Walsall borough. After several meetings it was decided that we would crowdfund for a new and innovative solution to help the growing numbers of men experiencing mental ill health in the borough. It was decided that our solution would be to offer a new bespoke

Men’s Mental Health App – BrainTech – providing immediate access, 24/7 support, that is easily accessible and free to use.

Braintech 24/7

We wanted to create this because men’s mental health and wellbeing is an important yet often overlooked health concern. As an organisation we have over 20 years’ experience providing very successful, innovative specialised mental and emotional health initiatives, that combine the power of ‘in-person’ group sessions together with online teaching resources. We decided that this funding could help us create an app that would offer ‘free of charge’, early intervention and signposting to the appropriate support services, to empower men, and help prevent a wide variety of mental health problems, addictions, and suicide.

Using extensively researched neuroscience, and our innovative neuro-sculpting programme of tangible tools and practices, the BrainTech App will focus on education, empowerment, and self-advocacy with a signposting service to relevant agencies and support networks. We will pilot the app for six months, whilst seeking additional funding for the longer-term sustainability of the project, but will fund the app ourselves for a minimum of 12 months.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of our funders that contributed via the Spacehive page and made our crowdfund project successful! https://www.spacehive.com/braintech–walsall

The App will be available and accessible to all able-bodied and disabled males, males from all ethnicities, cultures and religions, and all sexual orientations, as we do not tolerate discrimination in any way.

We also take Safeguarding very seriously and the app will be subject to our rigorous Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

The BrainTech Working Party

Would you like to be involved in the development of BrainTech?

We are currently seeking male volunteers from all walks of life, whether you’re someone who is currently struggling with mental ill health, or has struggled in the past, or you’re simply passionate about supporting others, we would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking male volunteers in the Walsall area to participate in testing BrainTech before its official launch.

By joining our testing programme, you’ll have the opportunity to provide insights that will help us identify areas for improvement, fine-tune features, and ensure that the app is user-friendly and effective in supporting men’s mental well-being.

If you would like to be considered for this ‘working party’ then please get in touch asap. You will get the chance to play a vital role in shaping the future of men’s mental health care in Walsall and together, we can break the silence, shatter the stigma, and embrace a future where mental wellness knows no bounds.

Apply to become a volunteer tester today and be part of this movement for change.

Applications for the ‘working party’ can be made by emailing lee@bighappinesscic.com or texting the words BRAINTECH to 07583 203444. We will then arrange for an online application to be sent to you.

The Neurosculpting Programme

The Neurosculpting Programme

Jules Mitchell, is the ‘brains’ behind the innovative Neurosculpting Programme that the BrainTech app is based upon. She is currently extremely busy with the serious work of creating the Learning Labs, Toolkit, and Community Forum for the app, which is no small feat! However, we know that this unique app will make a huge difference to mental and emotional health of the men that have the opportunity to access this free resource.

Who Are We?

We are a family run company – that’s us (Lee and Jules Mitchell) above, and we are Black Country based, having a vast experience of working in our multi-cultural society. We deliver a range of initiatives and programmes that support mental and emotional health and educate organisations about Self-Intelligence.

We have been delivering specialised mental and emotional health keynotes, training, consultancy and coaching programmes for the past 15 years to a wide range of organisations and sectors. These include the public and private sector, schools, the military, parents and families.

We define our work as Self-Intelligence  which is being able to recognise, understand and manage your own thoughts, emotions, physiology and connection to the wider world. This knowledge impacts on your daily habits, behaviours, feelings and your overall ‘sense of self’. It does this through various elements including: “checking in” to our thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations on a regular basis; practising attentional control; improving the ability to step back and think and act more rationally.

Self-Intelligence also helps you to recognise, understand and influence the reactions/responses of others. In practical terms, this means being aware of what drives your own human behaviour and how you have the power to impact people both positively and negatively, by recognising both yours and their level of Self-Intelligence.

We currently deliver the highly successful and respected ‘Project Me’ in Walsall, an informal programme, that provides a unique framework of education, practical tools, and strategies for those people struggling to cope with their current mental and emotional states. Project Me equips participants with knowledge and tools in order that they can develop healthy attitudes towards mental health and greater emotional resilience, whilst strengthening their capacities to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
